Amy Falk Weinberger,
the Founder and CEO of The Thinking Center and The GAP School,

began her endeavors 15 years ago in Sarasota, Florida. BOth the Center and the School are founded on innovative educational concepts. Beginning solely as a tutoring company, The Thinking Center has evolved into a major forerunner in educational excellence. The center has guided learning changes for over 3,000 students, families, and teachers locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

"It all began in Atlanta, Georgia in Dekalb County Schools. "The kids in my high school classes could not read, organize or use memory well. That's when I started to find alternative solutions. It took me three more years to actually leave the classroom and begin the journey into implementation of effective learning curriculums that would ultimately produce measurable outcomes."

In 1991, The Thinking Center was born and a small group of Sarasota students started feeling successful. As research became more available in the areas of cognitive development, The Thinking Center philosophy moved from a tutorial model to a training model. The difference between tutoring and training is simple: Tutoring is simply helping a child keep up with his daily work and helping him/her to prepare for the next day. Training is when you actually change how a student learns so that they can get out of the cycle of continual tutoring.
