This consultation is about having an educational plan that fits you and your family's needs no matter which school district or state you live. That means there must be elements of creativity and flexibility. That's where The Thinking Center fits in.
The first step is an hour interview with a family to understand the types of outcomes andrecommendations that are being requested. The can be done via SKPE or in a scheduled visit at the Sarasota office.
The second step involves a detailed review of all files that a family has accumulated over the years from pediatricians, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and teachers. This review is done without the family and usually takes the consultant 1-3 hours to review depending on the documentation provided, the situations. the communication between practitioners, and the outcomes requested.
The final step is when the family and consultant reconvene for the feedback. There total process usually takes up to 6 hours. If you are outside the state of Florida, there might be additional research needed based on the state your child/teen attends school and how a district or state manages their special education.
